where to start. i was staying in the hotel with work, arrived on the sunday night. was leaving for work on the monday morning from the hotel leaving my wallet by mistake on the top of the table in the room forgetting it had my room key in it at the time. I arrived back at the hotel from work asked the reception if they could give me another key to get into the room as my wallet was in the room with my room key in it. so I get into the room to see the room has been cleaned things had been moved and no wallet in site. so I contacted the duty manager about this issue to be told there is a safe in the room for my belongings to go to which I explained to him I had just forgotten it this morning. and that this does not give anyone the right to move or take anything from the room.since this they have done nothing to progress this issue. the police are now involved with the situation. poor management no one seems to want to take ownership of the situation that has occurred.
Everything was fine except they missed our alarm call in the morning and our early breakfast. Guy in the restaurant seemed more concerned with getting another member of staff in trouble over allowing us to book it than sorting the problem out. Gave us a refund rather than sorting breakfast for us despite it only being half an hour earlier than they actually start serving it. Very poor service.
Upon checking in I was told I needed to pay, which I should not have needed too as it had been booked by my company. The person on reception was extremely unhelpful. In the end after telling him I was not paying and him flat out telling me I had too he put a 152.95 hold on my credit card so I could speak to my manager. He told me my room number and then no more information about my stay, for example when breakfast was or that I needed to put my car registration in the permit system. They next day I spoke to another person on reception, she helpfully asked for my managers email so that she could send an authorisation form. My manager had to end up ringing from New York to sort the payment but at least this person did not flat out tell me that I had to pay and that was that. When I left I requested that the hold on my card was removed. The person on reception seemed confused about this but told me she would do it. I've now had 150 returned to my card, when the hold was 152.95. A small difference yes but one that quite clearly shows there was no record of what was originally put on my card. Absolutely appalling. Otherwise the facilities are ok, room slightly dated, pool is small but nice, the lady that greets you for breakfast is lovely.
Living up to the Novotel standard the room was large, the bed was comfortable and everything was spotless. The food was good too although the drinks in the room weren't always topped up. Unfortunately the lift was also out of order for part of our stay which wasn't convenient however the staff were welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.
No frills but a generous size room with temperature control. Comfy beds and plenty of onsite free parking. There is a pool but limited to 15 people at once. Breakfast options are wide and very generous, but go down early on a weekend to get decent seats. Hotel is located well for shopping centres.
