Great service and food was fab, I recommend the goats cheese and veg baguette. Sadly, the Americano was a little weak, but all in all it was a super experience.
I had a latte and cheese scone. Cheese scone was tasty but had a very bread like texture. Latte was only just Luke warm as was my husband's cappuccino.
Poor service at till spoilt it for me. Most unlike John Lewis. She must have been having a bad day? No cutlery for our snack and drink. Without saying what she was doing, she momentarily left the till to get another tray of washed cutlery, knew I was waiting for her to bring it back, then left it at the furthest point away from where I was standing to go and fetch myself. Not what I would have done if I known a customer has stayed waiting and expecting better service.
The Place to Eat is the place to go in central Milton Keynes for anything from a cuppa to a full meal. During my shopping time I stopped there for morning coffee shortly after arriving in the centre.After a couple of hours shopping I paused for lunch, a turkey pie with peas and mash. Delicious and generous portions.Later in the afternoon I finish my shopping with another coffee and a deliciously moist slice of cake. That was all the sweeter because I had a John Lewis reward and the coffee and cake were free.What more could one ask for: tasty food reasonably priced and the occasional bonus of a free treat.
In the past we have thoroughly enjoyed lunching here. However today was a great disappointment. The Moroccan Chicken Soup was billed as a new recipe - they shouldn't have changed it as the old version was far superior. Also there was chaos in the restaurant with huge queues at the tills and a lot of tables unusable due to uncollected crockery, despite the staff's best efforts.
